In 2024, I joined HypeJoe Games as a Senior Programmer and was soon promoted to Tech Lead. I led an 8-person engineering team across Gameplay, Core Systems, DevOps, Backend, and QA. I designed the architecture using Unreal Engine 5, AWS GameLift, and Node.js microservices - it was exciting to build something from scratch.
I set up Docker and Kubernetes for scalable deployments and brought in Epic’s Mutable System for character customization. I also established coding standards, conducted code reviews, and built the company’s core infrastructure from the ground up. Beyond the technical work, I mentored the team through 1:1s, career development sessions, and helping everyone grow.
I also pursued 30 LinkedIn Learning certifications during this time (software architecture, cloud, DevOps) to make sure I was bringing the best practices to the team.
