Metaballs

Metaballs is a visual effect demo I created in 2019, inspired by The Coding Train's tutorial. Metaballs are blobs that merge together smoothly when they get close, creating organic, liquid-like animations. The effect uses mathematical field calculations to determine where the blobs should blend.

I built it using JavaScript and my demolib framework. Watching the blobs merge and separate is mesmerizing and surprisingly relaxing! It's a classic demo effect that looks simple but involves interesting math behind the scenes. It's licensed as GPLv3 and you can watch the blobs dance in your browser.
